Cedar is a type of coniferous wood, meaning that it is classified as a softwood and its cones/needles remain all year round. Straight grain with fine texture. Usually many small knots. Rot/Insect Resistance: It is a durable wood and resists decay as well as many insects including termites.
Typically cedar will last up to and above 50 years.
Heat treating is essentially a form of pasteurisation, during which the core temperature of wood is raised to 133 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes. Heat treating is necessary for wood packaging products used in shipping to stop the spread of insects and disease through international trade.
HT timber has the properties to comfortably last 25 years untreated, and longer if treated.
Sedum is a large genus of flowering plants in the family Crassulaceae, members of which are commonly known as stonecrops. The genus has been described as containing up to 600 species, subsequently reduced to 400–500. They are leaf succulents found primarily in the Northern Hemisphere, but extending into the southern hemisphere in Africa and South America.
The plants can be used on the roofs of the Bradgate Grange buildings, on top of a waterproof EPDM rubber lining.
PVC (Polyvinyl chloride) is the world’s third-most widely produced synthetic plastic polymer. About 40 million tons of PVC are produced each year. PVC comes in two basic forms: rigid and flexible.
It is extremely hard wearing with excellent tensile strength.
Aluminium is used in a huge variety of products including cans, foils, kitchen utensils, window frames, beer kegs and aeroplane parts. Aluminium is the world’s most abundant metal and is the third most common element, comprising 8% of the earth’s crust. The versatility of aluminium makes it the most widely used metal after steel.
Although aluminium compounds have been used for thousands of years, aluminium metal was first produced around 170 years ago.
UNILIN, division panels offers a wide range of quality chipboard, MDF and decorative panels in melamine or HPL on a carrier plate. It also offers a range of technical panel material specially developed for low-energy housing, completely wooden structures or combinations of traditional timber frame construction and more traditional elements.
Used on the internal walls and ceiling of your Bradgate Grange building, Unilin provides a very versatile finish on which you can decorate to your own tastes.
“The biophilia hypothesis suggests that humans possess an innate tendency to seek connections with nature and other forms of life.” Edward O. Wilson
Used as an optional extra on the exterior and interior walls of your Bradgate Grange building, biophilia provides an excellent source of energy to your environment, whilst contributing to a greener and more sustainable solution.
EPDM is an extremely durable synthetic rubber roofing membrane (ethylene propylene diene terpolymer) widely used in low-slope buildings worldwide.
Even with a seam, EPDM is virtually waterproof, and if a leak ever does develop, repairs are fast, easy and inexpensive. Not only that, EPDM roofs are fire resistant. They are almost impossible to ignite, and they can actually impede the progress of a fire.
Despite not being covered by the building regulations as such, our buildings are fully insulated throughout. That means floors, walls and ceiling.
This ensures that your garden retreat is available all year round, either as a cool retreat in the summer, or a warm welcoming snug in the winter.
As part of our commitment to only provide the highest quality products, all of our buildings are made from solid timber frame structures.
As well as the outer cladding of Cedar being comfortably able to outlive 50 years, we also guarantee the integrity of our timber structures for 10 years
Unlike garden sheds, log cabins and other similar products, Bradgate Grange uses heavy duty timbers to ensure a solid long lasting build.
